As far as ambient light is concerned, you can make this more controllable by installing dimmer units. The clean uncluttered look of halogen lamps look absolutely stunning and, for a designer look, you could install LED kitchen lighting, either as under cupboard task lighting or as accent lighting, say beneath your floor standing cabinets.
Halogen lamps are produced in both mains voltage and low voltage versions. The low voltage halogen lamps will require a wired in 12 volt transformer but they are superbly energy efficient and very safe..
The cool, crisp white light produced by halogen lamps is ideal for all work spaces, particularly the kitchen. It is, in fact, the artificial light that is closest to daylight.
