Thought Vibration by William Walker Atkinson - Book Review

Written in 1906, Thought Vibration by William Walker Atkinson, is as current and relevant today as it was a century ago. Atkinson, a somewhat forgotten New Thought pioneer, was also an attorney, merchant, publisher, editor and author of more than 100 books, many under pseudonyms.

Without being preachy, Atkinson explores the ideas of increasing willpower, mastering the real self, living fully, ridding the mind of negative thought, training habits, harnessing emotions, and developing new brain power. His older writing style is still lively and surprisingly refreshing 100 years later.

I love Atkinson's "in your face" attitude about will power. (If you don't have any, you're mentally lazy!) And his thoughts on what he calls "asserting the life-force" or really living and experiencing each moment of every day, call us to stop doing things half-hearted. Take an interest, man!

Atkinson spends a lot of time discussing fear and how it affects our attitudes and, eventually, our ability to succeed. Fear, he says, is an expectancy of the feared thing. To banish fear, start to do some of the things you could do if you were not afraid to try. Assert courage and, eventually, the fear will recede.

Atkinson leaves us with some thoughts on our views of successful people. We imagine successful people to be superior. And if we ever get the chance to meet someone we deem as superior, many times we are disappointed to find that they are the same as ourselves! The difference, Atkinson asserts, is the successful person's belief in themselves and their ability to concentrate. Resist the urge to undervalue ourselves and overvalue others.

Amazing how the world around us is so different yet the human element remains the same!

Five Basic Considerations For Improved Home Security

Of all the possessions a person may come to own over the course of their life, none will be as important and cherished as their very own home. No other possession has come to be imbued with such transcendental notions of worth and importance as the home, which has passed from being a mere object to being a concept, an ideal. Given this incredible appreciation for having one's very own home, it is no surprise that more and more people across the country choose to invest in a home security system every year-there is just no way to feel comfortable, to sleep well at night, without a comprehensive and professionally installed security system. But it's not enough to just contract any run of the mill provider, and it is also not alright to assume that your provider (even the best provider) will be responsible for any and every aspect of your home's security. With these realities in mind, here are five basic considerations to always have present that will help you guarantee the effectiveness and consolidation of your home security.

1) Pick the right company. As has been mentioned, it is not good enough to just choose any old company working in the security field-in fact, many such companies lack staff that are professionally trained in the field, and instead contract third parties that have no training either but that are legally allowed to run monitoring centers. Your provider should be the employer and sole proprietor of every component of your home security system, from the people running the monitoring centers to the live dispatchers themselves to all the different components installed in your home. The larger the operation, generally the higher the quality of protection being provided, so look for a company with more than three or four monitoring centers and millions of customers across the country.

2) Upgrade your system as much as you can. Don't just go with the cheapest plan, but make sure you are receiving all the benefits modern technologies have to offer. Make sure your home security system is both wireless and digital, as anything else is obsolete and will expose you to risks that you should not be exposed to at this point in time. Make sure you have backup communications options, like two-way voice intercom capabilities in your keypad as well as backup cellular tower communications capabilities to reach your monitoring center (in case your land line goes down).

3) Maintain your property. The area around your home is your responsibility to clean, and your home security provider won't be there to cut down dead trees, remove excessive undergrowth, and clear other possible fire risks. Also, you need to make sure you have used fire resistant roofing materials in your home.

4) Leave without making it obvious. Whenever you go on vacation or take an extended leave of absence from home, do your best to cover this fact over using deceptive techniques that will make criminals think you are still home. If possible, use a timer to trip lights in your main entrance and one or two rooms with windows facing the street at around dusk. Disconnect your phones or set the ringer to the lowest possible volume, and do not leave notes on your front door that make your absence completely obvious.

5) Equip all external doors properly. Having the right kinds of locks on all doors leading to the outside is absolutely crucial, even when these doors are being controlled by your alarm system. A minimum of one-inch deadbolts on all exterior doors is advisable.

Your best deterrent to home invasions and break-ins is an ADT alarm system. Don't wonder whether your loved ones and valuables are at risk. Get peace of mind with ADT alarms.

Persistence Or Failure In Goals
Creating Success For Teenagers

Achieving Maximum Altitude

Like most people, there are not many things I like about flying. Except for one thing! When I fly, I always choose the window seat and wait for the best part of the flight! I just love when the plane cuts through the clouds and soars above them. I absolutely love flying above the clouds and looking down onto a sea of puffy cotton balls! It is at this point, when the plane reaches its maximum altitude. It is a moment of stability, weightlessness and pristine beauty!

How can we achieve our maximum altitude? How can we obtain those moments in life of flying above the clouds? Life's goals and personal visions are a lot like packing for a trip! The departures may be different, but the destinations remain the same. Here are some flying tips to reach you closer to your life's destinations:

Pre-preparation! It is the little details that get you to your final destination. Booking the flight, hotel, choosing your clothes etc. Making a list and checking it twice! Prepare a list to make your journey to your final destination a pleasant one. What are the little details that you need to check off on your list to bring you closer to landing your goals?

Pack only your essentials! When we have a goal or mission in mind, keep focused on only what you need to carry to achieve them. Packing for life's goals is a lot like reading a book: take what you need and leave the rest! If not, your luggage is too heavy to carry!

Compartmentalize everything! When packing your luggage, there is a place for everything: your shoes, your suits and your toiletries. Separate your life's goals much in the same manner. The immediate tasks, your short term goals and your future long-range goals. Like your luggage, tag and label them and check them often!

Listen to the instructions! On any flight, we are forced (we have no choice!) to listen to the instructions and know what to do in case of an emergency and where the exit doors are. Do we listen to instructions, advice and creative criticism from our mentors or family members? Probably not! But, like that flight attendant, they are there to protect us and make our journey a pleasant one.

Letting your loved ones know where you are! We have a family pact. When I am traveling, I always leave my hotel info and flight #'s with my family. It not only shows respect, bit it is a way of keeping them informed of my journey. When was the last time, you informed your family/friends where you are in your life goal's, your dreams, your destination spot? Share your life's itinerary with the people who are most important in your life.

Encountering turbulence! I wish all flights of life were smooth sailing! In trying to reach our personal goals and missions, we sometimes will encounter air pockets and altitude shifts. Know that they are only temporary. Hold you breathe if you have to. Grab a friend's hand in panic. Know that your 'plane' will stabilize again. As the saying goes: this too shall pass!

Say a prayer! My sister is a white-knuckled, terrified passenger. I always joke with her and say that if something happens to me on a plane, at least I am closer to heaven! (To say the least, she does not appreciate the humour!). All joking aside, there are not many people who know, that when I fly, I carry my rosary in my pocket. I, invariably, always say a couple of prayers along the way. Touching the rosary brings me peace and some calmness. In the air or on land, know that your personal prayers do not fall on deaf ears.

Clap when you land! Many of us have been on flights, when the pilot lands us safely on that runway, that we give a round of applause. When you goals have been met, give yourself a round of applause. You have landed safe and sound!

Give thanks! When leaving a plane, the airline staff and crew are always at the door saying goodbye and wishing you a safe trip. I personally thank each and every one of them. When reaching your goal's destination, give thanks to those that helped you get there. We are not on this journey of life alone. Have an 'altitude of gratitude' for those who have helped you on your 'flight' towards your goals.

Enjoy your trip! Treasure your moments. Know that with every flight in life, you will reach greater heights, soaring with greatness above the clouds.

Designing Inspiring Environments

The influence of your personal environments on your health, creativity, and well-being is often subtle, yet profound. You can use the environments you live in to support you in feeling good about yourself, to experience less stress, and to be more productive.

Personal environments can include your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, your work environment, networks, ideas, learning environments - and your physical environment - such as your home, the community you live in, nature, your garden, the technology you use, the information you absorb everything that you surround yourself with. It can also be the foods you keep in our house, the beautiful objects and colors around you, the books, magazines and newspapers you read, the movies you watch, and the thoughts you think.

Personal environments can also include your internal surroundings your belief systems and thought patterns. As you work on raising your awareness of your inner thoughts and eliminating negative or unproductive thoughts, you might notice increased levels of energy and focus.

Its possible to revitalize your surroundings or environments and design them so they bring out the very best in you, so that they evolve you toward a successful, inspiring, struggle-free life. As you develop your personal environments, you develop yourself and your capacity to be creative and to receive ongoing inspiration and support.

The goal is to design supportive environments that will inspire you to be your best and do great things. Success and personal development are more sustainable when there are environments and failsafe structures which support it.

ASSESS YOUR PERSONAL ENVIRONMENTS
Being fully alive calls you to play a much bigger game in life...evolving to your optimal potential or greatness. Do the environments around you bring out your best? Do you receive enough creative inspiration? Do you know what sparks your muse? Is there enough intellectual and spiritual stimulation in your life?

1. When you are feeling fully alive, what is going on for you?

2. How do you feel as you walk into your workspace? Into your home?

3. On a scale from 1-5, with 5 being the most desirable, how much would you say your environments are supporting you in living the life you most desire?

4. What is something in your environment that you are tolerating that could be removed?

5. What is something that is missing from your personal environments that, if added, would inspire you to do and be your best?

6. What methods do you use on a daily basis to raise your energy level?

7. What beliefs most profoundly affect your way of thinking?

TRY THIS
If inspiration is an energy that flows through the spaces we inhabit, it is wise for us to remove any items that might block its path, and add items that would increase its presence.

Choose one physical environment in your workspace or home to concentrate on. If you could change one thing in your surroundings starting today, what would you change? Each day, do one task in that environment to establish order, create space, remove items that block your creativity, add items that you love, perhaps add color - and design surroundings that will inspire you to be and do your best.

Creating an environment that truly supports you in being your best can be a very worthwhile long-term project. Envision what an inspiring, stimulating environment would be for you, and have the patience to build that vision a step at a time. It's worth the work!

FINAL THOUGHT
"If you have not used something in the past year, regardless of how attached to it you are, pass it along. You have used up its usefulness to you... letting go of attachments is a rewarding way to feel positive about yourself, and to keep things flowing back into your own life as well." ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Water Damage Restoration

One never knows when disaster will hit. The only way one can be prepared is to have insurance on water damage to your house or business. If you've recently suffered water damage you need to get help fast from a company that specializes in water damage restoration.

Steps to find someone quick to help you:

1) Check the phone book or search on the Internet for a few companies to consider.

2) After choosing a couple of companies to consider hiring, check their website. Look to see what their company offers to customers. Does it work with your insurance company? Do they hire quality trained professionals? Are they registered with the Better Business Bureau? These are just a few questions you should be researching.

3) Now check the Better Business Bureau to make sure the companies chosen do not have any bad reports on them. If a company has bad reports, move onto the next company for possible hire.

4) If you find at least two companies make phone calls to the company and compare prices. Make sure you include in your price the exact same items you are looking for in the service needed to get your place back into tip top shape before water damage occurred.

5) Once you find the company that is Better Business Bureau approved, the company offers trained professional water damage employees, will work with your insurance company if applicable, and quality work, give them a call and make an appointment immediately for water damage restoration.

You need to get your items saved as quickly as possible from water damage. You do not want mold and mildew to set into your carpet. Make sure the company will be using high quality products to get any smells and kill all mold, mildew, and bacteria in your home. Mold, mildew, and bacteria can be hiding in water damaged areas such as your walls, items that are wet, floors, and even your ceiling if affected.

Once the company you have hired for water restoration is finished you can get back to the normal routine of your life.

Free Me To Live - A Workbook That May Change Your Life

Let me ask you this:

Do you suffer with depression, guilt, shame or self -blame?

Do you cringe when you look in the mirror?

Do you find it difficult to forgive yourself for what you have done?

Do you feel that you are damaged goods?

Have you experienced an abortion? Were you ever abused? Raped? Did you suffer a serious violation of your self like incest or sexual molestation?

As the story goes, we get hurt deeply when choices we make or the choices someone else makes cause us to hurt (emotionally, physically or even spiritually.) Such hurts get internalized and "stuffed." The result is that the pain becomes a "hidden thing of shame." As long as something like the pain of abortion, rape, incest or abuse is hidden, it causes shame and guilt. The thing that is hidden has power to harm you. These hidden things of shame dominate our life.

This is why I call these kinds of hurts: LIFE DOMINATING PROBLEMS.

They do not go away with time. In fact, they often resurface with greater intensity later. That is the nature of post-traumatic stress.

You can not wash the feelings of guilt and shame away with soap. You can not escape the nightmares. Most commonly, people live with a scar of hidden shame that too often results in depression.

In fact, if you look just at one trigger issue that has impacted about 50 million women in the united states, the symptoms of abortion related aftermath read just like post traumatic stress. The most common expression of women of abortion is "I can't forgive myself." Those who have been violated by someone else tend to say, "I will not trust them ever again."

Untreated, these life dominating problems can cripple the person

You can not run away from your real self. You can not wish away the painful memories.

These life-dominating issues ultimately result in an emotional implosion.

Have you experienced one of these problems?

Are you are sick and tired of the pain?

Are you are ready to do what ever it takes to be free from all the guilt and shame and oppressive feelings that weigh you down.....then I want to share a secret that may change your life.

Here is the SECRET!

Ready?

You do not have to hurt...Someone Cares!

Five Things You Should Know

Composite Building Materials

Composite building materials are formed from two or more distinctly different materials. When combined, the properties of the newly formed material are superior to those of the individual components. The process of combining is a physical practice rather than a chemical one, so the composite materials feature the combined properties of their ingredient materials.

Composite materials contain two types of constituent materials, matrix and reinforcement materials. At least one variety of each type is necessary. The matrix material surrounds and supports other constituents by keeping their relative positions. The reinforcement material imparts special physical properties, such as electrical and mechanical, to improve the matrix properties.

Composite materials are noted for characteristic properties such as high structural strength, lightweight, resistance to chemical wear and corrosion, toughness (impact strength), mechanical stiffness, heat resistance and ease of processing (manufacturing). Most materials are cost effective, cause less public inconvenience and require lower long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Commonly used forms are fiber-reinforced plastics (fiberglass, thermoplastic composites, thermoset composites, etc), metal matrix composites (white cast iron, hard metal and metal-intermetallic laminate), ceramic matrix composites (cement, reinforced carbon-carbon, etc) and engineered wood (plywood, oriented strand board, and pykrete).

Composite materials are found in nature. An example is wood that contains cellulose fibers reinforced by a polymeric substance like lignin. Wood is one of the most common materials used in the construction industry. Straw and mud in the form of bricks are the most primitive composite building materials. Other varieties are organic matrix or ceramic aggregate composites (syntactic foam and asphalt concrete).

Concretes are made from the combination of aggregate and cement binder. They are used in the manufacturing of motorways/roads and all building structures. Natural fiber composites (NFCs) are made up of natural fibers like wood or hemp with artificial materials like recycled plastics. They are generally inexpensive and can be easily molded into sheets, boards and frames. NFCs are used as an alternative for timber in fences, railings, flooring, roofing, etc. The composite materials like imitation granite and cultured marble sinks are also widely used.

Can the World Ever Live As One

Imagine There's No Heaven, It's Easy If You Try, No Hell below Us, above Us Only Sky, Imagine All the People Living for Today. Imagine There's No Countries, It Isn't Hard to Do, Nothing to Kill or Die for, and No Religion Too. Imagine All the People Living Life in Peace. Think about It.

It's hard to imagine, with the information today and even 50 years ago that most people still believe in religions all over the world, just because they were raised to believe in them. Religions of the future will have to adapt to change, a little faster as more people read articles like mine to promote education within your religion.

Your Hardest Day In Life
Benefits Of A Bad Childhood

Do You Live Life on Default Or Do You Participate in Your Life

It's incredible the number of people who do very little or no planning in their lives. Who is in charge? What is there to be gained from wandering about life from experience to experience without having any idea of where you are going? I like to think of it as though there is an auto-pilot flying your life - sometimes you'll get something that you really want or arrive somewhere you really want to be, but most of the time, you are simply going to get what you get.

In order to live your life with a sense of direction, you have to make some decisions. You have to decide:

  • Where you are going
  • What you want to be, do and have
  • How active you are going to be in pursuing your goals

I'm a firm believer that there is no pre-determined purpose to our lives and that ultimately, it makes no difference if you live your life set to default, or if you take an active role in your life's direction and purpose. I do get the sense that to live our lives set to default is to miss out on some of the wonderful journeys we are able to create for ourselves. If you constantly find yourself arriving at a new destination, that you didn't pre-plan or intend to arrive at, then surely you've simply been a passenger in your life and not the driver. Ultimately though, if you understand that you have the choice to participate or sit back and let it happen, then you make the choice from an informed position. There are many people who are unaware that they do have the choice to participate in life and it is these people who have the most to gain from reading these words.

So rather than being a passenger, decide where you wish to go, who you wish to be and what you wish to have in your life, and then take action and make it happen.

Coaching for Self Esteem - Seeing Perfection vs Fixing People

The whole class was astonished.

We were all coaches and healers. We'd spent most of our lives in improving ourselves and others. Yet what we saw shook the very foundations of everything we believed.

Our teacher asked for a volunteer to come up front for yet another demonstration. We were about to see something that would make our heads spin.

You might have heard of muscle testing. It's a technique to find out if something is good for us or bad for us. Chiropractors and other health practitioners use it all the time.

She tested the volunteer for a baseline. In other words, you have to start by making sure the testing works correctly.

Then came the earthquake. Our teacher asked everyone to send healing energy to the volunteer. Then she muscle tested again.

You're not going to believe this. The person tested weak!

The volunteer weakened when we sent healing energy to her!

We were about to get the next earthquake to complete the collapse of what we thought we knew.

The seminar leader asked everyone to see the person as already perfect in that moment. Guess what.

The volunteer tested strong!

She became weaker when we saw her as needing healing energy. She became stronger when we saw her as already perfect!

Whoa. What have I been doing all my life? What have we been taught?

Our intentions were good, but ...

Perfection happens where someone sees themselves or someone else as perfect and does something, or nothing, for the benefit of the other person. The word intention may not even apply. We see the person as already perfect. There is no intention to change anything.

Black magic is where someone has an intention to damage another.

Misguided Intention

What the heck is misguided intention?

Misguided intention is where we see a person or situation as screwed up and we try to fix them. This is gray magic.

Does that shake things up for you? It sure shook me up.

What have I been doing all my life? What have I been taught?

Sure, you can see things as messed up and fix them. For example, you can see a house as dirty. You can then clean it up. And yes, then it's clean.

Does it stay clean? There is a never-ending activity of cleaning the house as it keeps getting dirty. Does that mean that, if you always see the house as clean, it will always be clean? You still go through the motions of cleaning.

But we want to raise self esteem. And I can tell you that if we always see ourselves in our perfection, that we'll dissolve anything that limits our self esteem.

This is good stuff!

Humility is fine. But that doesn't mean that we tear ourselves down.

True humility is seeing perfection in others.

Smiles

Have you seen the Jack Nicholson smile? That smile tells me that Jack is really cool.

How about the Tom Cruise smile? It tells me that we're both really cool. Does that smile help others to be really cool?

What does all this mean?

We had our foundations shaken. Are we going to go around with the belief that we're screwed up? Are we going to keep fixing ourselves?

Is there a better way?

Glad you asked! We can practice seeing ourselves and others as already perfect.

This approach goes way beyond fixing your self esteem. There is nothing to fix. All you have to do is see your own perfection.

Would you like to help other people? See them as already perfect.

Healthy Lifestyle Tips

Build A Tiki Bar - Tiki Bar Plans Should Include A Thatched Roof

When you're building your own backyard tiki bar one of the key things that must be a part of your tiki bar plans is a thatched roof. Without this element, your bar will lack the ambiance of a traditional tiki bar and, unless you've put some other type of roof on it, will not provide shade to your bar patrons.

Since your tiki bar will likely be outside, a good roof is essential since nobody likes to roast in the sun while enjoying a cocktail. Since you're building a tiki bar, no other type of roof is going to look right, so learning how to properly build a thatched roof is essential to building an authentic tiki bar

Now, you might be asking, "What is thatch?". Quite simply, thatch is any naturally occurring plant that can be used for roofing materials. Things such as oat straw, rye, barley, and straw can be used to make thatched roofing. The key is that it's naturally occurring and will be waterproof when constructed properly, preventing rain, sleet, and snow from penetrating it. These materials are woven in a specific pattern to create durable roofing material. When constructed properly, a thatch roof will be just as durable as any other traditional building material but will be much more aesthetically pleasing.

A thatched roof is an important part of any tiki bar plans for reasons other than appearance. While they are waterproof, thatched roofs still provide good ventilation, due to the nature of their construction. This helps to keep you cool by providing shade and necessary ventilation in the summer. In addition, thatched roofing will also provide good sound dampening qualities, reflecting less noise than traditional materials, and helping your tiki bar to have a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

On top of being as durable and weatherproof as most other types of roofs, thatched roofs are much more cost effective. You can obtain the materials relatively cheaply and construct the thatched roof yourself. The framework required to support a thatched roof is much cheaper than that required to support a roof made of traditional roofing materials such as slate or tile. Also, if you have any issues with a section of your thatched roof, it is very easy to replace or repair the damaged section without having to re-do your entire roof, making maintenance a breeze.

If you're planning on building an outdoor tiki bar and a thatched roof is not currently part of your tiki bar plans, you should seriously consider adding one on. It will give your bar a much better appearance, create the right ambiance, and provide your guests protection from the elements. No tiki bar is really complete without one.

If you're interested in building your own tiki bar you can get great tiki bar plans with an authentic thatched roof here

Professional Advice on Home Building

If you're a do it yourself or or a homeowner who every once in a while, once to tackle a small or large project but doesn't know where to begin, can gather useful information from home building books. I have been using these books for years and may have been worth their weight in gold.

I started my career working for my father and my father worked for his father as a Carpenter. Our job was to frame the house and we built a Lotta homes. I learned how to frame and developed some great carpentry skills from my father and working with other skilled carpenters. Over the years, if you're paying attention, even a monkey can figure out, how to assemble almost anything.

The only problem that I faced, was learning how to build the rest of the home. I would often ask questions to other building trades like plumbers, electricians, roofers and construction superintendents. Some of these people were helpful and others were not. When I was in my early 30s, I purchased my first book on home building. This book lead to other books and soon I found myself with more home building knowledge that my father.

I had about 50 books on home building and soon found myself doing large home remodels, with no formal education. I would attribute almost everything that I learned outside of house framing to books. These books have proven invaluable to me over the years and with a relatively small investment. I couldn't have spent over $200 purchasing these books but have used the knowledge from them to save myself thousands of dollars.

One $20 home building books or home repairs, can save you lots of money, if you're willing to do a little research and the labor to complete almost any home building project.

By the way, if you're interested in learning how to repair a roof, build your own house, interior decorating, structural engineering, building a deck, gathering some more information about home painting or even remodeling your bathroom. An online home building bookstore can save you money if you're willing to do the work.

Greg Vanden Berge is working on the internet to promote the education for creating simple to follow guides and home building books to help professional building contractors as well as the weekend warriors. He has just finished a Home Buyers Guide to take some of the frustration out of home shopping.

I was told by an advertising executive one day that all of your advertisements need to deliver some sort of hope for the people you're trying to persuade into buying your products. Funny, if you think about it, I got some and great advice about life from someone in the advertisement business.

Most people are looking for hope, in everything they do. Most of our daily activities revolve around hope and this gives our lives some sort of direction. If you believe in an almighty being and creator of the universe, often you will try to please him, ....or her, ....or it, in hopes of entering the kingdom of heaven or the promised land after you die.

Often our fears will increase our levels of hoping, the fear of doing something against your religion can often inspire you to become a more spiritual person, a good and moral person. Fear of making the wrong choices will inspire us to make better, moral choices, all for the sake of acquiring a ticket to Heaven or Nirvana. You're hoping, your good deeds on earth will earn you a place in heaven.

Most people are afraid of dying and leaving this world, for good. They don't know where they're going and that seems to scare most people. If we can offer someone a little hope, that they are going to a much better place than here, we can often ease the pain and suffering associated with death. I have to admit, most religions of the world promise another world, after we're done with this one.

If you're living a honest and moral life with the hopes of living a bountiful life in heaven, could you be wrong. What if you're seeking Hope in the wrong religion? If you're a Christian and the Hindus are right and you're wrong, do you get to enter there eternal kingdom.

Think about this question, I'm about to ask you. What if spend your whole life studying your religion and it's wrong? There is no heaven and when you die, that's the end of your existence

Have you ever wondered why you believe in your religion and someone in another country or even a couple of miles away believes in something entirely different.

Don't get mad at me or yourself, simply think about the question for a while, this question has transformed my life and put me on a wonderful spiritual path of learning.

5 Money Saving Tips For Contractors

1. Check your local Resource-Recycle Center for doors, windows, lumber, tile, hand tools, screen doors, sinks, cabinets etc. Most cities have a place where you can purchase quality used building materials. Check with your city or do a google search on the Internet. You can also donate your used or excess building materials for a tax deduction.

2. Save money on power tools by buying them reconditioned. Concerns about purchasing reconditioned power tools? "Reconditioned" power tools have been thoroughly tested, repaired (if necessary), cleaned, repackaged, and resold. Reconditioned power tools are required to meet the same stringent quality-assurance standards that a "fresh" power tool from the same factory would have to achieve. In fact, most power tool manufacturers offer the same warranty for reconditioned power tools that they offer for their brand new counterparts.

For example, extensive quality control at the Bosch facilities ensures that the quality of remanufactured power tool is equivalent to the quality of a new power tool. Bosch also is reusing high-grade plastic polymers from recycled power tool housings in their remanufactured power tools.

But be wary if someone is advertising a "refurbished" product.

Refurbished power tools have probably not been rigorously tested and are usually just eyeballed, repackaged, and resold. Reconditioned power tools are tested and repaired in accordance with tool manufacturer standards before being resold, so they are always the better choice.

3. Buy or Sell excess building materials on Craigslist.org. (ie: flooring, roofing, tar paper). Many homeowners and contractors have purchase excess supplies which take up room in a garage or storage space. A great, free place to sell stuff, any stuff, online is Craigslist.org. I've sold excess hardwood flooring on Craigslist for slightly under what I paid for it and more than I would have received if I had returned it to the retailer (because of the 25% restocking fee).

4. Start a Deconstruction Business on the side and reuse the material that you salvage. ToolsoftheTrade Editor, Michael Springer said it best, "this niche market can serve you well as an alternate in this economy."

"For more information on deconstruction and recycling house components, take a look at www.thereusepeople.org The Reuse People of America Inc. is a non-profit organization that specializes in training and certifying deconstruction contractors. It has resale yards in some areas where tax-deductible contributions of used or surplus building materials can be made. Another relevant Web site is www.buildingreuse.org

5. Be safe. Emergency room visits costs money and lost time.

A Calling to a Career in Ministry

Do you want to be part of a community of believers committed to learning about god? Pursuing a degree program based on faith is an exciting prospect for some students. When you earn a degree in Christian studies, you are teaching yourself to share the message of Jesus with the world. Your Christian studies degree can lead you - not in to temptation, but in to a variety of ministerial and service positions around the world.

What They Do:

Ministers work to spread the word of god. They act as counselors and spiritual guides for members of their church and the community at large. They not only lead their church, but they coordinate educational and leadership programs as well. Ministers are mainly responsible for overseeing and managing the daily activities of the church.

Training:

Earning a degree in Christian studies or theology can get you started on a road to several interesting careers. Your basic coursework will cover basic curriculum in areas such as sociology, history, and civics. You will also be required to take courses that are focused on history and history of world religions. You will take classes that further your learning of god and his word like courses in scripture, theology, ancient languages, church history, and ethics.

Job Opportunities:

Earning a degree in Christian Studies can prepare you for other careers than simply ministry. There are opportunities in fields such as life ministries, religious systems management, and education. You can also find careers in nonprofit, publishing, and education. Museums also hire people with a background in art and religion to work in specific areas of expertise. Salaries tend to vary in this field. Your salary may be in the $40,000 range, but the work you do is priceless.

Saving Money As A Teenager

Credit Repair, Or Not?

One of the biggest concerns an individual has about receiving financial assistance is "will I need credit repair when I complete the program?" The answer depends on each individual's situation.

One of the goals of financial assistance is to provide immediate, as well as, long term relief to the client. Depending on what their credit score looks like when enrolling in a program, along with the effects during the program, will vary from client to client.

The exact amount of the decrease or increase on your credit score is impossible to quote because of the activity during the program and your overall profile. However, if you are one that prefers to go through credit repair, be sure you find a legitimate company who will benefit you in that field. As long as the debt is recognized as an outstanding debt, the creditors will continue to report it to your credit profile.

Once the debt is resolved, either on an individual level or if you use a company, then you may want to take that next step to repair any inaccuracies on your credit profile. Either way, if you are experiencing a financial hardship, ask yourself what your true goals are. Your credit score does not judge your character. It shows creditors how much availability you have for them to extend you credit. If you are maxed out now, your concerns should be with eliminating your debt, gaining back control of your life and finances, and then rebuilding.

Ask Yourself Some Simple Questions About Religion

Most of us are raised from children into adulthood, to believe in someone else's religion. Most of us never even got the chance to choose a religion or spiritual beliefs to follow on our own. I came up with a simple list of five things that you should know about your religion, or you shouldn't be allowed to practice it.

1. Where did your religion or spiritual beliefs originate from? You should find out who started your religion and why they started it. Some of the worlds major religions were started by intelligent people. Do you think it's possible that your religion was created by an intelligent person, instead of a supreme being or multiple gods. Someone's just trying to trick you into believing.

2. How did you get involved in your religion or spiritual beliefs? Was it part of your upbringing, did your parents suggest this religion to you, how long has your family been involved in your current religious beliefs. Was your great, great, great, great, great grandfather or grandmother part of this religion or spiritual belief. How far back does it go in your family?

3. Do you believe in your religious doctrine or scripture? Is there any parts of your religious scriptures, writings or communication from other fellow believers that doesn't sit right with you? Does every part of your religion makes sense and can it be explained sensibly to someone outside of your religion?

4. Do you practice what you believe on a daily basis? If you're supposed to read your scriptures or pray daily, do you? If your religion teaches love and compassion, how do you treat people less fortunate than yourselves? Are you one of those people who can justify your wrong doings, to yourself and others, to give them the illusion, that you are a religious or spiritual person.

5. Do you know where you are going after you die? Are you going to someplace wonderful and extraordinary, like heaven? If you had to earn enough credits or points, do you think you have acquired enough, to enter the next level of existence? If you're bad, are you going to a bad place, with all the other bad people?

Try to always keep one thing in mind do you use, religion and responsibly.

These are just some of the answers, that I sincerely believe most people should know about their religion or beliefs. You should be able to answer at least one of these questions if asked by a nonbeliever.

Christianity Saved Me

I would like you to think about something for a minute, have you ever met somebody who has been saved in a Christian church. There's a good chance you know quite a few people if you live in the United States of America. Over the years I've heard people tell me, "I've Been Saved," it can be a new beginning for some or lead to a life of frustration and pain for others.

If you don't know what being saved is, or have never heard of it, let me give you a brief description of a saved Christian. This would be someone who accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior, it's not that difficult and you really don't have to go to church, this ritual can be performed anywhere.

If you're reading this article and would like to be saved, here's how you do it. Get up out of your chair, run outside the building you're in and start running up and down the streets yelling, I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, 1111 times. Be careful because if you missed this by one number, in either direction, you have to start all over again.

Okay I'm just kidding about the running out of the house, and yelling at the top of your lungs, oh yeah and the 1111 times. Anyway the truth about being saved according to the Christian church, is quite simply saying the words to your self or out loud, "I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior."

That's it, it's really quite simple and your saved.

The problem becomes a little bit later in your life and this could be within a few days or even a few hours, if most people don't see a drastic change in their life, they quit their newly founded Christian religion and go back to their old ways.

I hope you have a pretty good understanding about being saved in the Christian religion and you can do it anytime of the day, at any period of your life. If you're going to die and you been a liar, committed adultery, murdered or raped another person, lived a life of crime, ruined the lives of others or even been part of another religion you're whole life, simply state the words "I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior," and you're instantly a Christian. That's a pretty good deal for anyone.

Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, this simple statement gives you a one way ticket to heaven and spend eternity in one of the grandest most beautiful places you could ever possibly imagine, even though you might not have been, what most people would consider a decent person. Now this is looking pretty good isn't it.

Being saved can provide you with a lot of benefits if you're a believer but I forgot to tell you one very important thing about this whole process. There is no hard evidence and most Christians will tell you that they base their whole life on faith and a book written by a man but inspired by, one unbelievable, supernatural and incredible entity.

I've seen a lot of people live their lives tormented from the decisions they've made throughout their lives. If you choose to believe in Christianity, I would suggest you spend some of your time reading the Bible but most of your time gathering information about other religions also. Don't take someone else's word, that this is the way to eternal salvation. I beg you to at least, find out where the Bible really came from, always question your religion.

Education has freed me, to pursue other ideas and release me from the bondage and fear of organized religion.

How to Distress Furniture - Step by Step Guide

For a unique look, many homeowners are mixing distressed furniture with current modern styles.

Before you go throwing away your old dining room or bedroom sets, reconsider by refinishing it. Distressed furniture can be very expensive to buy so why not create it yourself with a little imagination and some TLC. This step by step guide will give you some helpful tips that the pros use when distressing furniture.

1. Sand: Sand down the finish on your piece so the primer/paint has something to adhere to. Use medium/fine grit sandpaper for this.

2. Rough up surface: Take a few tools (hammer, screw driver, chain, etc.) and rough up the surface of the piece. This is left up to your discretion of how distressed you want to make the furniture. The more you rough up the surface the more aged the piece appears.

3.Prime: Use a good quality white primer and give the piece of furniture a thin coat. After the piece has dried, follow up with a light sanding.

4. Top coat: Pick a top coat that complements the room. If you want to stay neutral, then go with whites/off whites. Apply two even coats of this top coat. Sometimes, homeowners will request a crackle finish in which the top coat appears as if the paint has dried and is starting to chip away. For a crackle finish read the steps below:

a. Follow steps 1-3.

b. Optional Base coat: Get Creative!! If you do not want the piece to show white crackle from primer coat, then now is the time to be creative. You can apply a different base coat which will show behind the top coat when the crackle takes effect.

c. Apply crackle glaze where you want the top coat to crackle. Allow to dry according to directions on package. This is usually a clear glaze sold at your local home center.

d. Top Coat: Apply top coat evenly (try not to over brush which may cause paint to drag). This top coat should be a different shade then the primer/base coat to make the crackle stand out.

e. Continue the follow steps below.

5. Optional Glaze coat: After the piece has thoroughly dried, apply a glaze over the entire piece. This step is optional but recommended. This glaze (usually dark brown/grey) when applied, highlights all of the roughed up areas (step 2) and really brings out the details in the piece. The best way to apply the glaze, is with a brush and then wipe off the excess with a rag. Wipe with even pressure (in one direction).

6. Apply a seal coat: Water based Poly works good for this. Apply 2-3 thin coats of this product according to the manufacturer's recommendation and do not forget to sand in between coats. This step will protect all of your hard work.

Now step back and enjoy your newly antiqued furniture. You will be amazed at the results and how quick and easy you have changed the look of your room. Take your time & most importantly be creative with this!!

What Kind Of Roofing Material Should You Choose?

An important part of building or remodeling any home is choosing the right roofing material. The type of roofing you use can either add to the style and attractiveness of the home or take away from the looks and leave you wondering how such a mismatch could have happened. Before launching into any project that includes installing a new roof, take the time to look at and think about many different types of materials so that you will end up with a roof that is perfect for your home.

Start your search for roofing material by looking around different neighborhoods in your community. Look at older houses to see traditional roofing materials as well as newer houses to see what kinds of materials are the latest and the greatest. As you look at different materials, think about how they will fit with your homes architecture and style, as well as with the general style of your neighborhood.

Roofing Material

You may be surprised by some of the newer roofing materials. Its very possible that some of the roofing that you like best is made of materials that you would not expect. For instance, many kinds of metal roofing are made as individual shingles, in shapes and textures that are very much like tile, slate, or wood shingles. Looks are important, but so is durability. Check out the lifespan of different types of roofing material. The lifespan for the material you choose can range from a traditional 20 years for composite shingles to an ultra long 50 years for some kinds of metal roofing.

With the different styles, looks, and materials in mind you are now ready to look at cost. The most durable roofing materials of course tend to be the most expensive, but dont assume that the highest quality materials are the best choice for your home. If you plan to live in the home for a very long time then it probably makes sense to invest in a long lifespan roof, but if you will be moving within just a few years, you wont get enough return on your investment to justify spending for a top quality roof. Pay attention to local building codes and any neighborhood covenants, because more and more areas have guidelines and rules about the types of materials you can and cant use on your roof. Spend some time considering roofing material up front so that you save yourself time, money, and effort later on.

Home Purchasing Checklists Provide Protection

Home purchasing checklists provide protection for consumers with useful information for future home repairs or current home repairs that will need to be done before the home is sold. Home inspectors often use checklists like these, while they're inspecting the home.

If more home shoppers used home inspection checklist while shopping for houses, we would probably have more satisfied homebuyers than dissatisfied ones. Recently just purchasing a home, we had our real estate professional, the previous homeowner's real estate professional and a mortgage lender, involved in the purchase of the property.

There was a home inspection report from the current homeowners, available for us to look at. It provided us with the damaged parts of the home that were repaired or replaced. Some of these repairs were from termite damage and it was stated so on the report. This was helpful information for us as we walked around the home inspecting it for damage.

The work that was repaired to look satisfactory and the rest of the home had minor damage. Listening to one of the real estate sales people that were involved in the transaction, you would've thought we would get in the deal of a lifetime and they had nothing but good news to say about the product they were representing. I easily understood that, this person could have influenced some one into believing that the home was in great shape, if they didn't have a home inspection checklist with them.

The home had been re-carpeted, painted and was in generally good shape. The problems with the home, were the old windows that were hard to open, the heating unit leaked gas, the tile flooring that ran through the kitchen and a large room addition looked great, except for one thing, they installed the tile over linoleum.

This eventually will have to be replaced as the tile starts to separate from the linoleum. While I'm writing this article, there's about 40 square feet of tile that needs to be replaced, because it's popping up and cracking.

A home purchasing checklist does not guarantee that you will find everything but can't eliminate some of the things that homeowners have the biggest problems with. If you could just eliminate one of these problems, the small price of purchasing, one of these checklists would be worth it.

Home purchasing checklists provide protection for the shopper and I would recommend, never shopping for a home without one.

If your looking for some more home inspection or home building ideas.

I Have A Squeaky Floor

Over Complimenting People Might Turn Them Off

It has often been said that giving praise or compliments is indeed, a way to "Win Friend and Influence People" and yet, since everyone already knows this many can see through the veil of false praise. Fake kudos is so common that many now will not even take a compliment.

It's just not worth analyzing to figure out if it was genuine. Worse, everyone is running around complimenting everyone for nothingness, that it does not mean anything anyway.

Additionally, it really matters where the approval is coming from. For instance, let's say all the dogs in the neighborhood approved of you, would this make you very happy? For some it does. How about a troop of chimpanzees? How about a group of humans with an 80 pt. IQ level? How about a schmoozer in the office or a salesman at the car lot?

Okay, let's say a cyclist who rode in his first race and placed 54th went up to Lance Armstrong and said "Good race" and Lance Armstrong says thank you, but in his head he's thinking, who are you to judge me? You didn't even try in your race, you didn't practice, and you don't take it seriously.

Now, it is common courtesy to receive the compliment, but it's not about Lance Armstrong feeling approval, it's about the approver being able to compare themselves with the excellence, which they are too lazy or pre-committed in other endeavors in life to achieve. See that point.

Sometimes compliments turn people off, sometimes they are not necessary, and believe it or not there is a huge generational gap on the issues of the need for approval and the use of compliments in society whether it is online or in real life. Think on this.

Crisis In Christianity

Tammy Faye - A Season We Will Always Remember

Although her life was always controversial hardly any American would dare not to say that she kept her faith in Christ through it all. It is that fact that does more to encourage people than all the negative ramifications of all that has gone on in her early days of evangelistic work.

She is survived by her husband Roe Messner and two children Jay Bakker and Tammy Sue. She fought her cancer for several years and when asked by Larry King how much time the doctor had given her to live she replied with I dont want to know. Few would have thought that she had as little as one day left.

Cracking a smile and speaking positively in almost every answer she gave Larry King made it impossible to see that nothing in her spirit was sick at all. She answered with wit and full cognizance every question King asked and with a cheeriness that once again makes her a profoundly American enigma.

King received over 200,000 e-mails after the interview with Tammy many who were deeply concerned for her and wanted to assure her that their prayers were still being offered up for her. Her own website went down shortly after her passing. It is not known why but they too may have been inundated with responses following the Larry King interview.

Tammy Faye and her former husband Jim Bakker will be remembered for their meteoric rise to the top of the televangelist list of whos who. Both Jim and Tammy went on to engage in new ministry and both seemed to not just recover but flourish in a less public but far deeper way.

Husband Roe Messner has been helping to build churches for over four decades. Roe was both a writer and a building contractor. He co-authored Building for the Master: By Design. Tammy was quick to say that her greatest source of close support during her illness came from Roe.

Both Jim and Tammy have been publicly criticized and denigrated since the events following the fall of the PTL Ministries during the 1980s but they have both continued in labor for the Lord.

Tammys persistence in her faith and refusal to curl up and fade away is a strong testimony to the Lords power not just to save but to restore. She picked herself up after the problems with PTL and dusted herself off and defied the naysayers by using the same grace she first found in her salvation.

It is with that revival of purpose and clear showing of the restorative grace of God that Tammy Faye approached her last hours of life. The critics notwithstanding her testimony will encourage millions who could no more forget Tammy than their own sister or mother.

We will miss her but we are assured that the same Savior that called her into the Kingdom is able to carry her home safely in his love. For those of us who trust the words of Christ we know she is only lost to us for a while because he said, Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? John 11: 25, 26.

The Psoas Major Part 2

In The first part of this series we laid out some unique qualities of the psoas muscle. Now we will look a little closer at each one. The psoas muscle is the bridge between the upper and lower body. There are only two muscles that connect the legs to the spine- the psoas and the piriformis. Healthy tone and function of these muscles is a prerequisite for the proper placement of the pelvis.

The piriformis attaches to a bony prominence high on the outside of the thigh bone, and then crosses the back of the pelvis to insert on the inside front portion of the sacrum. While the psoas has a greater role as a postural muscle, it can't function effectively without having a happy relationship with the piriformis. Dysfunction in one invariably involves the other.

A lot of what we are dealing with as modern man relates back to our shift from quadruped to biped. Everything changed when we stood up on two legs. On all fours the weight of the body falls through the arms and shoulders as much as the legs and the pelvis isn't asked to support the skeleton above it. The psoas doesn't play that important a role in a four-legged creature unless you are a butcher and prize it by its other name: the tenderloin. In the quadruped the psoas never actually makes contact with the pelvis crossing from the spine to the leg.

In standing the psoas is pulled across the front rim of the pelvis as it rotates from horizontal to vertical. This changes its relationship to the body dynamically. When we stood up the psoas became a main part of the support system for the upright skeleton. This happens because of the tension created when the psoas crosses the rim of the pelvis on the way towards vertical.

The psoas begins at the base of the rib cage attaching on the outer edge of the 12th thoracic vertebrae (the thoracic spine is between the lower back and the neck and includes all of the vertebrae where ribs attach to the spine) and four of the lumbar (lower back) vertebrae on its way down to cross the rim of the pelvis and head backwards and down to connect to the back half of the inner thigh.

The tension created when the psoas moves down and back after crossing the front of the pelvis supports, among other things, the proper curve of the lumbar spine as the downward action of the psoas pulls spine into its proper curve. Another equally important action is a reciprocal engagement of another set of muscles, the erector spinea or spinal erectors. When the psoas lengthens down, its forward pull on the lumbar spine allows for the erector spinea muscles to find tone lengthening up in opposition. The engagement of these muscles brings support all the way up the spine.

This action of the psoas, which creates a pulley like force that we will discuss further in another article, is a main determinant of the position of the pelvis. It would be impossible to find this action without the independence of the leg and the pelvis. Their separation is what allows the psoas to generate so much power in support of the spine. The piriformis, among its other jobs, helps to stabilize the pelvis in harmony with the psoas through its connection to the inside of the sacrum. Proper balance and function of these two muscles determine a great deal of our balance and coordination in standing and their importance as a bridge between the upper and lower half of the body cannot be underestimated.

Why Basement Remodeling

With the long-running housing crunch in New York caused by the influx of people wanting to be a part of it; smaller living units have become the more popular choice posing as the more affordable option. Naturally, one thing that New York homeowners would have in mind when thinking of undertaking a home improvement project would be more living space. Instead of gaining a home addition that requires tearing down walls and extending the area of your homes, the best possible solution is exhausting the possibilities that any unused area in your home has to offer. This makes basement remodeling an ideal project.

Now you are thinking, 'Why would I want to use my dungeon-like basement when I could extend and create another floor above my roof or enlarge an existing room?' To answer this and lay out more benefits, here are several points explaining why basement remodeling is the best way to go:

- Basement remodeling is a lot cheaper to work on to add square footage to your current living area than a full home addition. Even with most or with every same feature and design, it would only end up costing just a chunk of the whole budget that a full-scale home addition amounts to. With the latter, there would still be a need to not only demolish any existing wall or roof, you would also have to rebuild another to surround the additional expanse. But with remodeling your basement all the crucial structural foundations are already built like the walls, flooring and ceiling.

- Unlike other home improvement projects, basement remodeling involves an area which is not much frequented and is quite isolated. So even when the project is undergoing, you and your family will not be required to put up with so much of the hassles such as the noise caused by the ongoing construction as well as the traffic of contractors and other workers going about their works.

- Being literally surrounded by earth, the basement is typically cooler even if the sun is sizzling hot on summers and warmer during chilly winter months. So no matter what finish you plan and come up with, it will surely be enjoyed with the added benefit of its energy-efficiency.

- The ready availability and easy access to plumbing makes adding another bathroom or a kitchenette ideal. You can do your basement remodeling to result to a luxuriant personal spa, turning every inch of your basement into a haven of utter comfort. But even if you have other plans, the new room could still make good use of the added bathroom or kitchenette. This idea would not only considerably boost the quality of living in your home but add real value to it as well.

- When thinking of the best finish for your basement remodeling project, you can take advantage of the compact nature of the structures making up the basement and its intentional remoteness from the rest of your home. These characteristics make up for utmost privacy as well as great sound proofing. You could opt to have a playpen, home office, music room, and home theatre out of the project finish.

These enumerated, excellently answers why basement remodeling. Another consideration to include in your home improvement project is a qualified basement remodeling contractor. With this, you are just some steps away from project success.

The Value of Pest Inspections

If you are in the process of buying your first home, insuring the property is a must. It's almost certainly the biggest financial commitment you will have made to date. But before you sign the contract, there's another essential 'insurance policy' you need for your protection and peace of mind - and that's a pest inspection.

The impact of household pests

Pests, especially termites, can have a substantial impact on property values. Obvious infestations of cockroaches, rats, mice, silverfish, spiders, fleas, carpet beetles and other pests will certainly put off most prospective buyers because of potential health risks and damage to floor coverings and fittings. There can also be other creatures which may have chosen to make their home in your proposed home and they are by no means confined to country areas - birds, possums and snakes. All other things being equal, a clean, insect-screened property with no apparent pests will command a better price every time.

Therefore, you need to be confident that the property you are considering is pest free. However, many pest problems are not readily visible to the untrained eye and you really have to look below the surface. A professional pest inspection is the only way to do this properly.

A thorough pest inspection, including a termite inspection, is money well spent. While most types of household pests don't cause a lot of damage and can be eradicated and controlled relatively easily, termites can be responsible for major structural damage. Older, wooden houses are more likely prospects for termites, however newer, brick, and steel-framed constructions are definitely not immune. Termites can be munching away unseen on the framing around doors and windows or skirting boards and can only be picked up by an experienced inspector with the right equipment.

The damage caused by household pests can be costly - rats and mice can gnaw through electrical wiring, silverfish, moths and beetles can ruin expensive floor coverings, curtains and clothing while extensive termite infestation can require tens of thousands of dollars in treatment, prevention and remedial work.

So, if you're in the market for a property, there is a whole range of things you have to check out before you make the big decision. Make sure a pest inspection is on the list - it could turn out to be one of the best investments you ever make. The cost can be as low as around $100 but do some research to confirm the reputation of the business beforehand.

In summary, here's what a pest inspection can deliver:

the reassurance that your dream home is pest-free

a very cost-effective way to ensure that you don't inherit any expensive and unpleasant problems

a bargaining tool to negotiate a lower price if an inspection reveals that there are existing or previous pest infestations and you are prepared to accept this situation

When you weigh it all up, the answer is clear. A pest inspection offers a simple and inexpensive way to offset the potential risk of seeing your property value diminish and having to spend large amounts of money to rectify the situation.

Ever Feel Like Giving Up?

"I have set myself a goal to become a more confident car salesman."

"I want to read a book on building my self confidence."

"I keep telling myself I will be more confident and action-oriented."

Are any of the above you?

You might have tried to be a better salesperson, perhaps you pushed yourself read a book on self confidence and you were action-oriented, but you were unable to keep the momentum going for all three.

You started off by missing a day here and a day there for one reason or another, and those days escalated to missing a few days here and there until you only pursued the goals once in a while.

The next step was feeling as if you want to give up. You didn't yet, but you sure felt like it, right?

Pursuing self confidence began to be a chore; you started looking elsewhere for distractions.

Aside from perhaps the desire was not strong enough to keep you motivated, other things come in to play.

So, why did you feel like giving up?

One of the reasons you felt like giving up on chasing the self confidence goal is because you kept falling back into your habitual patterns; those that you have kept and nursed for a very long time.

You see, many people know that it is by far easier to stay as they are than to change; for change needs courage and work.

You are different; you want to change and are ready to put in the time and effort.

So for you to build your self confidence and never ever feel like giving up until you become self confidence, you will have to create new patterns of thought.

You have to create new empowering thought habits; those that support what you are after.

One way for you to start creating those new thought habits and to follow through with your goal of becoming self confident is for you to resist temptation.

Creating the habit of resisting temptation makes you an incredible goal-focused, action-oriented person.

Refrain from watching a programme on TV, keep away from endlessly chatting on the telephone; from anything that you know is distracting you.

Or at least work on reducing temptations and distractions; at least until your objective for the day has been met.

Should you fall prey to persuasion, it is not the end of the world. The thing is, though, you have side-stepped your daily goal, and once you have done that the likelihood of you doing it again increases.

By not sticking to your daily objective you will find that you are not fully committing yourself to your goal. Avoid going astray and stay focused on your goal.

Resist temptation by focusing on the benefits you will gain from becoming self confident, and imagine how your life will change for the better. Realise the power of purpose behind your goal.

Avert from being lured away from your goal.

Pause for a thought: What do you do regularly that doesn't support you when pursuing your daily objective? Make a list of the temptations and distractions that stand in your way, then with a red marker make a big X across the page and rip up the page and throw it away.

Remain committed and do not give in to temptation.

Sun Awnings - The Benefits of a Sun Awning

The last few days have been great here in the UK. The sun has been shining and the first glimpse of summer has shown itself. The sun feels warmer and it's no longer as dark at 5pm - things are looking great.

With the cold winter behind us, we can now look forward to a nice long hot summer - I know that we have not had one for a few years so we simply must be due one. And they do say, cold winter = hot summer. I hope this is true.

Now may be the perfect opportunity to invest in sun protection. Whilst we all love the summer, sitting under the sun's harmful rays for too long is damaging to the skin and can lead to serious health problems. Sun Awnings allow a shaded area that you can sit under and at the same time be protected from the UV rays - though still enjoy being outside.

Retractable Sun Awnings come in various styles. Retracting back into a discreet but attractive cassette when not in use, they offer a whole new extension to your property and a cool place to retreat to on hot summers days.

As well as the above, Sun Awnings offer shade for your property as well, protecting furniture and carpets from the sun.

Fully automated Sun Awnings are now available that come out on their own if the sun picks up and go away if it gets too windy. This ensures your rooms stay cool, your furniture and carpet remain protected and it looks like someone is home even if you are out.

With the current financial climate being as it is, you may think now is not the time t invest in such an expensive product. Well considering the fact that any savings are no longer providing interest payments, why not invest in your property at a time when there are some fantastic offers to be had on Sun Awning products.

Nationwide offer high quality Sun Awnings and electric garage doors for the UK.
